Pass the cheese please!

We had a special treat Sunday evening with Great Plains Pizza.  So of course we had to get out the parmesan cheese and honey.  Tate found the parmesan particularly delicious.  He did his best to lick up as much as possible with his tongue.  Although he ended up with a lot on his chin and lips, he thought he was pretty entertaining.

Big Boy

I have a big boy on my hands.
Not big, like when people say, "he must be a good eater," but big as in he acts like such a "kid" these days.  I think he'll always feel like a baby to me, but today he seemed like a big boy.  He did some paperwork in the recliner before supper, was eating his sandwich like his Daddy and when we went outside he played in dirt, skinned his knee and drank from the hose.  Just like a kid!

Palm Sunday

We hope everyone had a great weekend!  Although Saturday's weather was a little dreary, Palm Sunday more than made up for it.  Saturday we spent most of the day at home.  We played inside, cleaned the bathroom (hated every minute of it), napped, went to the park, took branches to the dump place you take branches.  I don't know what it's called. . . city waste place?  Since Tate is battling a cold, snotty nose and cough he and I stayed home when Aaron went to Radcliffe to watch the late Final Four game.
Palm Sunday we headed to church in Garden City and we were happy to have some extra visitors with us.  Papa, Nana and the Truesdell's came to our church today.  Staying in church with Tate during the entire service is something we're working on.  Before the kid could walk and squirm his way out of the pew and our arms, he did pretty good in church.  Liked the singing, snacks and books.  And now, we can make it through the first 20-30 minutes without a problem with few problems, but that last half hour is a real struggle.  Then it's time to pull out all the stops- snacks, books, the doodle pro, more snacks, distraction- "look at the baby, the light, the lady, the bug. . . "  Today we managed through the first 50 minutes, but after that, it was a lost cause.  He had had snacks, books, distractions, sat with Nana & Papa, played peek-a-boo with the pastor's wife, did the arching the back thing to look at everything upside down.  And then that was enough- time to get out of there to stretch his legs.  Not bad, not great.  But we'll keep working on it, hopefully someday we'll have a kid that sits through the service without a peep.  Hopefully.
After church we headed to Bob & Karen's in Radcliffe for Easter dinner.  We had a great spread of food, beautiful weather and everyone had a great time.  Tate needed a nap right around the time of dinner, so after Aaron ate he and Tate went on a car ride to let him rest for a bit.  Then when they got back I attempted to make Tate his own Easter egg hunt (the big kids did theirs while he napped).  But it was all for nothing, he wasn't so interested, mostly just wanted to try to keep up with the big kids.  Anyway, we had a great time with the Stensland family and got to be outside almost all day.
As we left Radcliffe we found out Chad hadn't left to return to Wisconsin yet, so we stopped by my parents to say ''Hi".  Last week Brittni started her new job in Des Moines, so she's staying with my parents right now while Chad finishes training in Madison for his new job.  So Friday my parents and Brittni drove up to Madison to move Chad from their old apartment to a smaller, cheaper apartment.  Then after they got all the moving done Saturday they drove back to Iowa that night and spent Sunday unloading the trailer.  Does not sound like much fun to me.  But we're so excited to have them back in Iowa!  So, while we stopped by, Chad and Tate went on a 4 wheeler ride.  What a lucky kid!  He should sleep like a rock tonight!
